This paper argues that it is important to include ethical considerations in policy discussions on the use of autonomous technologies as weapons. It contends that ethical considerations not only lie at the foundation of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law, but also have wider relevance and implications beyond the legal discussion.
