This E-Note discusses the political divisions that exist within Taiwan over its application to become a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which is a China-led initiative to finance major development projects across Asia. The Note's author also looks at the difficulties Taiwan faces in joining the AIIB with a name that sidesteps Beijing's prickly views about Taipei’s sovereignty.
