This issue of Conflict Trends contains various articles which examine the impact of the 2011 Arab Spring revolutions on countries of North Africa. Among other issues, the authors consider 1) whether the root causes of the uprisings have been addressed; 2) what obstacles still face the full realization of the aspirations of the 2011 revolutions; 3) the lessons that can be drawn from these countries in managing shifts from autocracy to democracy; and 4) whether other countries in North Africa are vulnerable to future social unrest.
