This paper examines the recommendations of the first report released by the First Principles Review, which was created by the Australian government in August 2014 to review the state of the country’s defense system. The authors also 1) discuss the overall consequences of the review’s recommendations for Australia's defense system, workforce and efficiency; and 2) assess the different aspects of the planned reforms proposed in the report.
