This paper looks at the history of using tunnels in war and how tunneling has been affected by further developments in warfare, such as the introduction of gunpowder. The author also discusses how tunnel warfare is used in present day Gaza, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using this method and its likely employment in future irregular wars.
