This paper discusses the fiscal crisis - caused by stagnant government revenues, corruption, and a weakening economy - which hit Afghanistan in 2014. More specifically, the author describes the deteriorating fiscal trends in the country in the lead up to the crisis; 2) how a combination of factors led to the outbreak of the crisis in 2014; and 3) how there has been little improvement in Afghanistan's financial situation in 2015. He also provides some recommendations for the Afghan government and its international partners on how they could help ameliorate the crisis.
