This text examines the Sinai Tribal Union's May 2015 recommendations on how to deal with the jihadist insurgency in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. The recommendations include 1) the actions the tribes should take, 2) calls to action (or inaction) among the North Sinai population, and 3) specific requests for Egyptian government and military support. The text's author acknowledges that carrying out the recommendations could lead to potentially negative consequences, such as a jihadist backlash against the Sinai tribes, but totally implementing them could quell militancy on the peninsula and further Egyptian and Israeli stability.
