This commentary examines the European Commission's Digital Single Market strategy to assess the barriers to achieving a true Digital Union in the EU. It first looks at the aims and objectives of the strategy which include deregulating, simplifying and harmonizing online and digital rules and transactions across the EU. It then discusses some of the barriers facing the strategy as well as how to overcome these.
