This report examines the 2015-16 Australian defense budget, including its implications for defense spending in the country and for the Australian Defence Force. The author first examines the strategic, political, economic and fiscal context within which the government produced this budget as well as the state of defense spending and defense management in the country. He then examines the structure of the budget before looking at a number of related matters such as defense funding and reform in the country; international defense spending trends; the Australian defense industry; Australia's foreign aid policies; and the salaries paid to the Australian Defense Force.
