This is a transcript of a testimony given by Ian Brzezinski to the US Senate on the key challenges facing NATO and their implications for US foreign policy. In particular, he identifies and assesses four 'fronts' that have emerged and pose significant challenges to NATO. These include 1) a front in Eastern Europe driven by Russian assertive military actions, such as its annexation of Crimea; 2) a front in the Arctic due to Moscow's policy in the region; 3) a front stretching from Iran to North Africa wrought by a dangerous combination of failed states and extremist organizations; and 4) a global front, which involves the challenges created by globalization and increases the chance for regional conflict.
