This commentary evaluates the lessons Hamas is likely to have drawn from its July/August 2014 conflict with the Israel Defense Force (IDF). In particular, the authors discuss how Hamas is more likely to be effective in 1) using tunnels in its conflict efforts; 2) firing rockets into Israel; 3) its use of unmanned aerial vehicles; 4) creating smaller battlefield areas into which it can draw the IDF; and 5) using the media to portray IDF retaliations in a bad light.
