This report explores the role of women in peacebuilding processes, arguing for their greater inclusion. More specifically, the authors discuss 1) the barriers to women’s participation in this field; 2) the degree to which women influence peace processes; 3) concerns regarding the low levels of female inclusion in peace processes; and 4) the successful inclusion of women in the Philippine government's negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The report also includes recommendations on how to advance the meaningful participation of women in peacebuilding.
