In this transcript, former UK Ambassador Professor Kerry Brown describes how the United Kingdom’s diplomatic relations with China have changed over time and how British diplomacy can facilitate further cooperation between the two countries. One of Brown's main arguments is that embassies - and the information they produce - should become much more accessible, and thereby contribute to public discussions on the desired contours of Chinese-British relations. Finally, Brown discusses how London should interact with Beijing on human rights issues.
