This paper analyzes ISIS’ operations in the Syria-Lebanon border region and the threat its potential cooperation with al-Qaeda affiliate, Jabhat al-Nusra (JN), poses to Lebanon. More specifically, the author examines the objectives of both groups and how as they intersect, the two may be cooperating with one another and might perform a joint attack on Lebanon. She also examines the factors that are weakening Lebanon's counterterrorism efforts, including the humanitarian crisis created by the Syrian refugee camps in the country and the lack of international support Lebanon is receiving to deal with this challenge.
