This PRISM issue features articles that focus on the security challenges facing African countries. More specifically, the articles look at 1) the state of peace and security in Africa; 2) how emerging risks in Sub-Saharan Africa might affect US policy; 3) the security crisis in Mali and the role of the African Union in addressing it; 4) conflict management in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; 5) the history of Somaliland and its efforts to gain international recognition as an independent state; 6) what counterinsurgency lessons Colombia can provide to those fighting Boko Haram in Nigeria; and 7) the support the African Development Bank gives to post-conflict states.
