This report examines the state of economic transformation, democratization and modernization in Southeastern Europe, and Russia's continued attempts to influence the region. More specifically, the report’s authors focus on 1) the influence rule of law has had on democratization in Southeastern Europe; 2) economic development in the region and how it links to democratic transformation; and 3) the different instruments Russia is using to sustain its influence in the region.
