This paper discuses the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreed upon between the P5+1 countries and Iran over the latter's nuclear program as well as the challenges facing its implementation. More specifically, the author discusses 1) some of the key technical requirements of the JCPOA; 2) Iran's signing of an agreement with the IAEA which will provide the agency with information on Tehran's nuclear program; 3) the implementation deadlines and requirements for the JCPOA set by the agreement, including those dealing with the access the IAEA will be given to inspect Iran's nuclear sites; 4) the mechanisms to resolve disputes over violations of the JCPOA; 5) some of the challenges facing the JCPOA, including potential opposition from US Congress and the Iranian clergy; and 6) how member states of the EU have responded to the deal as well what policy they should adopt towards Iran in the future.
