This brief discusses how Saudi Arabia views the P5+1 nuclear agreement with Iran as well as how it may respond to the agreement. More specifically, the author looks at 1) how the media in Saudi Arabia has responded to the agreement; 2) the kingdom's fears that the deal could lead to an Iranian-US rapprochement that could come at the expense of its own relations with Washington; 3) Saudi concerns that the agreement could enable Iran to expand its regional influence; and 4) Saudi Arabia's pursuit of its own civilian nuclear program and what the country might do to ensure that it has its own independent nuclear capability to respond to the possibility that Iran may develop a nuclear weapon in the future.
