This commentary discusses the flurry of diplomatic activity between Iran, Saudi Arabia, the US, Russia and the EU, in what seems to be a concerted effort to break the logjam over finding a solution to the ongoing civil war in Syria. The author discusses some of the drivers behind this momentum and whether the actors involved could be beginning to set out the contours of a "grand bargain" for achieving peace in Syria.
