This report takes stock of US military activities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) since Russia's aggression against Crimea and Eastern Ukraine. More specifically, the report's author examines 1) how Washington has intensified its military involvement in the CEE as a result of the European Reassurance Initiative; 2) the US' responsibilities within NATO's Readiness Action Plan, which the Alliance adopted in September 2014; 3) how the CCE nations have perceived the US' attempts to reassure them; and 4) the possibility of establishing a permanent NATO base in this unsettled part of Europe.
