This brief describes how the US and China can take on more joint responsibilities, particularly when it comes to supporting global peace and development initiatives. The authors argue that for this to happen, Washington and Beijing will need to 1) build strategic trust, 2) overcome domestic policy hurdles, 3) willingly accept new leadership roles, and 4) better coordinate with each other to fill the gaps that exist in global governance and development.
