This paper examines the development of international transport corridors in Russia. In doing so, the author seeks to analyze the interplay between geography and politics in Russia against the background of former Soviet practices. The analysis serves as a case study of Russia's efforts to modernize its infrastructure network, enhance cohesiveness and integration of the country, and open itself to the global market.
