This issue of Conflict Trends contains articles which examine the impact of the Training for Peace (TfP) program dedicated to the development of African civilian and police peacekeeping capabilities. Among other issues, the articles examine 1) the contribution TfP has made to Africa's peacekeeping capabilities since its foundation in 1995: 2) the role of the TfP in the development of civilian capacities for African peace support operations; 3) research undertaken by TfP on peace processes and training for peace operations as well as its impact on policy and training in Africa; 4) the role TfP has played in expanding the role of gender issues in peace operations in Africa; and 5) the implications for TfP of the UN High-level Independent Panel review of peace operations, created in 2015.
