This brief discusses the implications which Russia's military intervention on behalf of the al-Assad regime in Syria's civil war could have on Israel. First, the authors discuss what strategic objectives Russia wishes to achieve through this intervention. They then explore some of the potential threats to Israel which could come about as a result of the intervention, as well as how Tel Aviv could use the frustration in Sunni states over the intervention to strengthen its relations with Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
