This analysis looks at the regional policy the Gulf States are pursuing in the Middle East. The text's author ultimately concludes that 1) thus far, this more assertive approach -- which is preoccupied with containing Iran both diplomatically and militarily -- has yielded mixed results and doesn't look like it will succeed, and 2) unless a modus vivendi is established between Riyadh and Tehran, the proxy war between these two countries will continue to destabilize the region.
