This brief argues that if we really want to understand the outcomes of foreign assistance in conflict-affected environments, we need to supplement existing data collection methods with geospatial analysis and mapping techniques, and well-focused fieldwork. To prove his point, the brief’s author explores a geospatial analysis already carried out in Afghanistan.
