Publication

This commentary focuses on the European Commission’s new Enlargement Package, which was approved on November 10, 2015, and the publication of the EU’s annual reports on each of its candidate and prospective candidate members. The commentary further provides an assessment of the new elements in this year’s package, including 1) an overarching strategy for the next 4 years; 2) much clearer guidance to candidate countries on what they have to focus on in the year ahead, and 3) the longer-term results that these countries must accomplish in order to meet EU expectations.
