This paper contends that because of a series of events which occurred in the latter half of 2015, there is now a greater risk of nuclear misperception, miscalculation, and escalation between Russia and NATO. The events include 1) Turkey's downing of a Russian fighter aircraft that broached its airspace; 2) repeated Russo-US nuclear blustering; 3) NATO's "Trident Juncture" wargames; and 4) the recent declassification of Cold War documents that focus on US nuclear attack plans against Russia.
