This brief focuses on 1) the feasibility of Pakistan-brokered reconciliation talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban, and 2) the open questions the talks raise. The latter include 1) Afghanistan's view of Pakistan's role in the negotiations; 2) the pace and substance of the talks; and 3) Islamabad's concerns over divided decision-making in Afghan politics. Last, the brief's author comments on the central role international actors might play in the talks.
