This paper speculates on the future trajectories of Turkish politics and the forces that may drive them. The three possible trajectories include 1) creating an authoritarian Islamic state; 2) fashioning a consolidated liberal democracy; and 3) dissolving the current state, as we currently know it. The three drivers that will most likely shape unfolding events are 1) the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its project to create an Islamic-conservative state; 2) regional instability; and 3) the Kurdish question.
