This paper looks at the smuggling of refugees and migrants into Europe as a business. Among other things, the text’s author discusses 1) the demographics of those making the journey, including the routes they are taking; 2) the business model being used for sub-Saharan migration; 3) how the increasingly violent route through Libya is disrupting the smuggling process to other countries; 4) the impact of the Aegean route on overall Mediterranean smuggling, and much more.
