This commentary looks at the tense relations that arose between the EU and Israel when 1) Brussels decided in November 2015 to flag products made by Jewish communities in the West Bank, Golan Heights, and East Jerusalem, and 2) Jerusalem responded by stiff-arming EU involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian problem. The impasse was subsequently resolved, observes the text's author, but sharp divisions remain, especially over the possibility of carving out a future Palestinian state.
