This paper discusses the evolution of the East Asia Summit (EAS) and the post-Summit developments. The author addresses the question of EAS’ economic and strategic potentials and prospects. The paper also looks at the significance of EAS for India and what role, if any, the latter can play in promoting the EAS objectives. The author concludes that the process of Asian community building has just begun and that progress in community-building will be incremental for the region.
