This paper attempts to bridge the gap between regional economics and international economics by examining trade and location in a framework where distance as well as trading costs unrelated to distance matter for the location of production. The paper thus seeks to analyze regional issues in a framework where international trade and trade policy matters, and to analyze international trade and trade policy in a framework where geography matters.
