This report analyzes Pakistan's government policies against religious extremism. It outlines features of islamization in the country, the madrase reform and the rise of a jihad culture. It then considers government responses to these developments. The reports states that it is doubtful whether the military government has the intent or the will to set Pakistani society on a sustainable course that would lead to political pluralism and religious tolerance.
