This report presents summaries and reflections on eight papers presented at a US Institute of Peace symposium on conflict management training. In a first part, the paper looks at the front end of the training process, focusing on analysis and cross-cultural communication skills. The second part explores some of the training practices that form the core of conflict management training followed by the final part, which addresses issues that are critical to well-designed and effective training. Furthermore, the paper outlines some of the symposium's discussion results.
