In this publication, Vincent Boulanin et al explore the impact recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) could have on nuclear weapons and doctrines, strategic stability and nuclear risk. More specifically, the text features contributions from 14 experts to provide a Euro-Atlantic perspective on 1) why and how machine learning and autonomy might become the focus of an armed race among nuclear-armed states; 2) how the adoption of AI technology might affect strategic stability and nuclear risk calculations at the regional level and trans-regional level, and more.
