This report presents several papers that assess the significance of the implementation of the peace process in El Salvador nearly ten years after the start of UN-led negotiations. The papers touch on a number of issues including the building of the rule of law, the demilitarization of public security and the democratization of Salvadoran politics. Further topics are the role of the UN and lessons for Colombia's peace process. The summary stresses success and human rights orientation of the Salvadoran peace process.
