This report examines the impact of self-determination movements. It focuses on US policy in four cases - the Kurds, Kashmir, Tibet and Eritrea - to see what lessons might be drawn from them for possible strategies for future cases. The aim of this report is to determine if it is possible for the US and the international community to promote successful outcomes in territorial disputes.
