This publication is an empirical analysis of the global neo-Salafist jihad in 2004. By examining the main actors, scenarios, consequences and targets, the paper shows that international terrorism has resulted in a lower-than-expected mortality rate and far more conventional procedures than commonly believed. The author concludes that international terrorism is to a great extent a paradigm of conflicts inside the Islamic world than an expression of a clash between civilizations.
