The three articles in this edition of the RAD focus on contemporary Russian-Belarus relations. The texts specifically look at 1) recent tensions between Russian and Belarus and why ties between the two countries are likely to remain volatile; 2) how in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine, Russia adopted an information campaign against Belarus that accused Minsk of being disloyal to Moscow; and 3) how the energy sector forms one of the cornerstones of Russian-Belarusian relations and has had a key role to play in recent disputes between the two states. The edition also includes statistical data on Russia and Belarus’ economic and energy ties as well as Russian public perceptions of Belarus.
