This publication assesses Croatia’s efforts to reform its armed forces in order to be capable of meeting new security challenges and to accede the NATO alliance. The author argues that the question of building a professional army is of primary importance and needs the support of all national institutions. In conclusion the publication finds that Croatia’s modernization and professionalization process of its armed forces has so far been slow but steady on the detail of transformation.
