Nov 2000

This publication discusses the November 2000 parliamentary and presidential elections in Romania. The author examines the different presidential candidates and the various parties contending for the parliamentary elections. The paper explains that the plethora of available political parties has not been conducive to government stability, and that indications show that the ex-communist former president Ion Iliescu could return to power, possibly following a second ballot on 10 December 2000.
