This paper describes the development of the Kosovo Protection Corps since its establishment as a security service in 1999. The author explains that despite of initial fears and some ongoing worries by the international community, the corps has performed well. However, the paper points out, that the lack of an agreed status for Kosovo and its institutions do not encourage transparency in the Corps' subordination and activities. The author hence concludes that the international community should regularize the Corps' status.
