This report provides an overview of Ethiopia's domestic and regional political situation since the May 2005 elections, which have generated violence and tensions among various communities across the country. The author fears that the deep shortcomings in the country’s democratization and state-building processes may remain unresolved if religious and political leaders alike refuse to compromise or negotiate and actively foster inter-religious cooperation and understanding. In addition, civil society and the private press should be supported with resources and international pressure, she demands.
