This paper provides an analysis of the July 2005 general elections in Albania. The author examines the political outcome of the elections and details their consequences for Albania's general development as well as the country's relations with its immediate neighbors. The paper states that the election victory by the opposition Democratic Party, led by Sali Berisha could see an increasing emphasis on Albanian relations and strategic cooperation with Turkey on several European issues.
