This report examines the relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan. It underlines that insurgents are active in both countries, which aggravates relations between the two. The authors demonstrate the historical background to the conflict as well as the process toward its "globalization." They also discuss the Pakistani Federally Administered Tribal Areas and the prospects for a border settlement.
