This paper discusses Iran's involvement in the conflict in Iraq. The author argues that Iran has reason to worry about a successful US policy that leads to the establishment of a secular, democratic state in Iraq. The paper concludes that the US has more to gain than lose if it adopts a more coherent and pragmatic policy toward Iran.
