This paper addresses ethno-nationalist terrorism and separatist violence. The paper discusses how globalization and its economic, social and political ramifications affected the notion of the nation-state. The author suggests solutions for managing overlapping ethnic identities and concludes that while the focus of the international community is on transnational terrorist organizations such as al-Qaida, it would be inappropriate to neglect other dimensions of the terrorist problem.
