This issue of the Quarterly contemplates the various challenges to peace in the modern world from both a strategic and national security perspective. While adhering to this theme, the text’s articles specifically focus on 1) the evolution of nuclear policies since the end of the Cold War and how they’ve affected the nonproliferation debate; 2) the minimum requirements for effective nuclear deterrence; 3) the problems and opportunities of implementing NATO’s Readiness Action Plan; and 4) the potential impact of deteriorating India-Pakistan relations on regional security. The issue additionally features book reviews.
